Text description provided by the architects. Restaurant with a minimalist design hidden in the alleys of Tokyo. Mark ʼs Tokyo is a restaurant where you can enjoy original dishes prepared by adding Japanese spices to Italian cuisine, which is Chef Mark’s root. Located on a quiet street just outside of downtown Meguro, Tokyo and needed to make all customers feel like they’re eating from Mark’s kitchen,

Since we believe that the food and the chef and the guest are the main characters in this space, we decided to make it a simple structure without too much excessive decoration, and which gives the space the pizzazz of Japanese through l ’empty space. By making the best use of the existing walls and gently dividing the elongated space, we have created a space like a private space and a small Japanese garden-like approach while being a distance where you can communicate with the chef.

For the edges of the walls, the tables and the shelves, we select types of wood with a warm color, and by manually treating the curved surfaces at each end, we give it a presence as a piece of furniture instead of a light fixture, giving the space an air of home. texture. Additionally, the warm light like flames created by reflecting light off the bespoke copper also helps create a cozy space.
