Lewis Ferguson told to leave Aberdeen for career reasons by Rangers hero Uncle Barry amid transfer interest
Barry Ferguson insists the time has come for his nephew Lewis to step up from Aberdeen.
The midfielder has been the subject of transfer interest in recent windows and Serie A side Cagliari had him scouted in Saturday’s win over Hibs – Ferguson is said to have met with officials afterwards club.
The 22-year-old moved to Pittodrie from Hamilton Accies aged 18 and has become a key figure for the Dons.
His uncle admits it was a great decision for both parties.
However, he feels now is the right time to part ways for the sake of Lewis’ career.
The Rangers hero told Go to the radio“Now is the time for Lewis to go and ride.
“It’s not me who’s disrespecting Aberdeen.
“I just think now is the time for him.
“Lewis has been good for Aberdeen but Aberdeen has been good for Lewis.
“I think if he wants to progress, it’s time for him to go in the summer.”
