Don Don Donki to open at Jewel Changi Airport with dedicated sake section

Don Donki Jewel Outlet set to open in Q1 2023

Japan has long reigned as one of the most popular travel destinations for Singaporeans.

But with the Covid-19 restrictions in place, getting there isn’t as easy as jumping on a plane.

In an effort to bring Japan closer to Singaporeans, Don Don Donki will open one of its largest outlets at Jewel Changi Airport in the first quarter of 2023.

In addition to Japanese products and groceries, the store will also have a dedicated space Sake section with drinks from different regions of Japan.

Don Don Donki outlet in Jewel to span 18,000 square feet

As if the Easties weren’t already blessed with the recent Don Don Donki outlet openings, the Japanese company will soon be opening a new store at Jewel Changi Airport.

The opening is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023, the outlet will be one of their largest in Singapore, spanning 18,000 square feet (1,672 m²).

Customers will be able to purchase their favorite Japanese lifestyle products at Basement 1 store after dining at popular restaurants like Shake Shack and A&W.

Paying homage to the location, the store will feature an aviation and travel theme.

Based on these illustrations by Don Don Donki, the checkout area will look like the airline check-in area we’ve learned to miss.

Service personnel will also wear what appears to be an outfit resembling a line crew uniform.

Exclusive sake section and open concept kitchen

As with the other Don Don Donki points of sale, the Jewel store will offer a wide range of Japanese products such as:

  • Alcohol
  • Beauty products
  • Household products
  • Fresh products
  • Ready meals

While enjoying their ready-to-eat bentos, customers can watch chefs prepare meals in the store’s open concept kitchen. Think of Ding Tai Fung, but with sushi in the place of xiao long bao.

In addition, the store will have a dedicated space Sake section with flavors from all over Japan.

Bringing us Japan in the middle of the pandemic

While our trips to Japan may need to take a step back for now, it looks like Don Don Donki will bring Japan – or at least his offerings – directly to us.

If you’re a frequent visitor to Jewel Changi Airport, this will likely be a welcome addition to the mall’s must-see ‘checkpoints’ list.
