Bowl for Kids’ Sake back in Quesnel – Quesnel Cariboo Observer

Bowlers will once again have the chance to rock ‘n bowl for Big Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel next month.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake returns Friday, April 29 at Rev Bowling Lanes.

Three two-hour sessions will be available that day starting at 3:30 p.m. for teams of five with “Rock’N Bowl” as the theme this year.

“We are all thrilled to be able to hold public events again,” said fundraising coordinator Joanie Newman.

“This is awesome – I just can’t wait.”

While COVID-19 prevented Bowl For Kids’ Sake from taking place in 2021, it was held in early March 2020 with a Flinstones theme.

The pandemic has been particularly difficult for the nonprofit organization. Most of their fundraising efforts have been canceled and in-person services and activities have been limited.

This year, Newman said they hope to raise at least $18,000 through Bowl For Kids’ Sake, in which four teams as of Thursday, March 10, have already registered.

“We have a wonderful community and we are very grateful for their donation,” she added, noting that they need big brother volunteers.

In December, Shawna Dumaine joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel as the Mentoring Coordinator.

Their next clothing drive is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 26 at West Fraser Timber Park from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
